1969 Penske-Donohue CAN-AM LOLA T163-17 The Penske-Donohue CAN-AM LOLA 163 was a special lightweight version built to order for the Penske Team -powered by a 6.9L alloy fuel-injected Chevrolet. Donohue debut the Lola at the Mid-Ohio in August 1969. It qualified 3rd behind the McLaren M8Bs of Denny Hulme and Bruce McLaren. The car DNFd due to a broken half shaft. Penske did not further pursue his CAN-AM effort due to his involvement with American Motors in their TRANS-AM series. ?This car was then sold in 1969 to Eno DePasquale who comprehensively restored it. In 2008, it was sold to Zak Brown, the current CEO of McLaren Racing, before being sold to the current owner in 2012. This is one of the better annotated CAN-AM cars with an iconic Penske-Donohue history. It is in fully restored, race-ready condition.
